Ex Commandant Bangalore

An alumnus of National Defence Academy who was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery on 31 March 1972. A Silver Gunner who has undergone the Long Gunnery Staff Course, Staff College and is a graduate of the National Defence College. He has commanded a Medium Regiment and a Composite Artillery Brigade. He was Deputy Director General at Perspective Planning Directorate, Major General Artillery of an operational Command, Commandant of Selection Centre South in Bangalore and Additional Director General Artillery at Army Headquarters. 

The officer was responsible for procurement of artillery equipment and selection of officers to the Indian Army and Indian Navy. The officer retired on 31 December 2010. He has also served as the Defence Attaché to Vietnam where he cultivated interest in China and is a prolific writer on strategic subjects. 
The officer has completed his Ph.D from Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science and is a M. Phil from Madras University. The officer is currently s a Defence Analyst.
 Post retirement the officer was appointed as an Advisor to Brahmos Aerospace Private Limited which is a Joint Venture between India and Russia. He remained with them for three years and is currently busy with numerous discussion and writing commitments. 

He has written books, articles and projects for IDSA, USI, CLAWS, CENJOWS, VIF and numerous periodicals. His areas of interest are Strategy, Firepower, Defence Procurement, Net Assessment, South and Southeast Asia, Indo Pacific and Left-Wing Extremism. His book Fire Power 2030 published by CLAWS is a seminal work on the subject.
The officer has organised and participated in numerous seminars at national and international level. He has authored three books and co-authored and edited many books. His last edited book Future of Land Warfare was launched by Union Cabinet Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari on 23 December 2019.
